A new study found that toddlers are prone to leg fractures when sitting in their parents lap while using a slide. The inciting accident usually occurs when a child’s foot catches the bottom of the slide and then twists or bends backward.
The risk of the accident is magnified by the greater force generated by the child sitting in the parent’s lap. So, although it seems counter-intuitive, it is better to stand to the side and let your toddler take on the slide by himself.
