Premier Pediatrics is pleased to introduce the Zoom workshop “Advocating for accommodations and support for your child in the NYC public school system”.  Many parents do not realize their rights when it comes to obtaining IEPs or 504 plans within the New York City Public Schools. All NYC public schools are required by law to provide an appropriate educational environment for each child who qualifies for IEPs or 504’s. They also are required to provide evaluations for children who are suspected of qualifying for these plans. If your child is struggling in school and you feel like the school is not providing the appropriate plan or accommodations to help him/her thrive, this session is for you.

While Miriam cannot provide individualized legal advice, she will provide information about how this process is supposed to work, and will answer questions about the rights of parents and children to obtain the most effective support possible in school.

This live session will help families better understand their rights and navigate the NYC public school system. Whether your child receives accommodations or has an IEP, Miriam will answer your questions on:

  • IEP vs. 504—what’s right for my child?

  • How do I prepare for an IEP meeting?

  • What responsibilities does the school have to my child?

We will charge a $20 fee for any cancellations within 24 hours of the session.
