A recent study has confirmed the belief that the presence of television and video games in a child’s room can be linked to poorer health outcomes such as obesity, addiction, and insufficient sleep. At Premier Pediatrics, we counsel parents on strategies to integrate video into a balanced healthy lifestyle. In addition to keeping video out of a child’s bedroom, we suggest that parents turn off all video and phones during meals. A meal should be a social time and we want a child to take this time to engage in conversation with family and friends.
