The Relative Age Effect

An interesting study from Finland describes that children who receive a diagnosis of ADHD between 7 and 9 years old  are more likely to have a birthday from September to December.  This finding supports the theory that in this age group, younger kids are more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD.  Although this is by no means conclusive, it is an important observation when considering the diagnosis of ADHD.
